Brief
Create an artifact that communicates the subject and matter of your dissertation. It is a hallway immersive experience project that explores Sigmund Freud’s 1919 theory of the uncanny. The uncanny is a horror concept that uses familiarity and unfamiliarity to provoke dread and uncertainty, highlighting the difficulty of interpreting reality and illusion.

Context

1st Experience
Participants experience anxiety and uneasiness as they go through familiar surroundings. The idea of a “Doppelgänger,” a metaphor for a second self, is also explored in this project. In this case, while strolling along the coast alone and taking in the sunset, the participant may feel unexpectedly accompanied!
2nd Experience
After that, the scene shifts to a more serene woodland where you can hear the birds and the wind. The participant develops a sprint action to gravestones in a cemetery, but then find themselves in a pitch-black forest with a figure emerging from the woods on fire.
Final Experience
In the final scene, you end up as the beginning in a hallway, and it is all pure creepy as you go back to check on the artwork and find out if it is alive and possessed.
